Interpretations of Griff-ness
An abbreviated guide to the photographic works of a singularly talented and twisted eBay Community.
On March 9, 2002, eBay member wardnjune started a thread that became a sensation: The Many Faces of a Man Called GRIFF. Using a seeming endless list of references from pop culture, movies and art, babies, saints and bathroom humor, eBay members went nuts ‘morphing’ their beloved Uncle Griff into every imaginable form.
Still open on the eBay Town Hall forum today, the discussion spans 38 pages, 1512 individual posts, and remained active over three years. Even eBay employees got in on the fun - watching the board for new images to add to the collections of Griff-ness in cubicles and hallways throughout the Corporate and Salt Lake offices.
Sadly, most of these images have disappeared from the original board discussion. Many of the creators’ originals have been lost as well. Although Griff’s comments mention him saving the board to CD , I have yet to find any online archive of these wonderfully fun photographs.
So, from my own collection of favorites, I present to you the Griffery Gallery.

Before going away for the weekend, I decided to post a little photo montage via YouTube. To all of you who tried to view this little video and couldn’t, all I can say is: I am a DORK.
I didn’t realize that labeling it "Private" would block anyone from viewing it on my site, as I had the source code and was, after all, the author. But nooooo. YouTube was all, "loading…until you join, sucka!"
It wasn’t until I tried it from Trav’s computer tonight that I realized it wasn’t working.
So I fixed it. And I’m sorry. I hope you come back and try it again.
