So, We Had a Little Rain This Week

Monday morning, Trav and I woke up to the sound of NPR issuing a flood alert for the entire state of Washington.

You may have already heard about this

We’ve received multiple calls and emails over the last two days from folks wanting to know if we’re ok, whether we’re swimming to work now, and when the house is expected to shear off it’s foundation and fall into the Puget Sound.

While the amount of car wreck icons lighting up the morning commuter map combined with a flood zone that covered the entire western region WERE major factors in keeping my ass at home, Maple Valley itself went relatively untouched.

Besides a soaked yard, our house suffered no damage at all. A few of our friends lost power that night. We know there are many people who lost a lot more than that. Trav and I consider ourselves very fortunate.

Snoqualmie Falls is just 15 miles from our house. It flows down through Fall City, which as shown in the video below, got completely hammered. The picture here shows what Snoqualmie Falls usually looks like.

This is what it looked like during the local noon coverage on Monday (in-depth Snoqualmie coverage is at minute 6:18):

Humm.. I love the reporters saying if you see the water, get out – then proceed to STAND in it and report that it’s rising.

Brilliant – I tell ya. It’d be funny if they were swept down river along with the camera man. Now that’d be some exciting Youtube vid there!

Glad to hear you and yours are ok.
