So I had a hard look at my last paycheck last Friday and…yeah. I’m poor. Which isn’t to say I haven’t been busy. Or that I’ve lost my determination. Although the cat might lead you to believe otherwise, I have managed to establish a daily schedule filled with researching the market, writing my business plan, submitting permit applications and completing a job for my first client.
It just sucks that almost none of that pays a dime. And while I haven’t even begun to get in line for Jules’ Famous Monster Meltdown Rollercoaster, the lack of paycheck is starting to weigh on my mind. This can be bad because I’m of a certain mentality that goes from Point A, “I’m unemployed”, to Point B, “I’m not contributing anything to this relationship”, to Point C, “We’re going to lose the house ANY DAY AND END UP IN A CARDBOARD BOX BY THE PIER!” in just under 24 hours.
At which Trav will calmly take my hands, look into my hands and say, “Honey, there’s no way we could ever afford waterfront cardboard.”
That he believes in me so much and hasn’t had a second of stress or worry while we scrimp and eat out a lot less, I am eternally grateful. And even more committed to working my ass off. The great news is, that work is now all about doing what I love to do, including this blog.
This January, Stargazer kicked off with a new template that will probably change on a monthly basis as I play with formats that create a better experience for you, and some dough for me. ‘Cuz as I’ve established, momma don’t like no cardboard. (But rest assured, I’d rather eat nails than turn my blog into some advertizing eyesore.)
So stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled – there’s more to come. But hey, if you see any boxes available down town, let me know.
