Gone

This week I was off from work to spend a few days with friends from Denver, and sit down to finish the seventeen posts I’ve had dangling in ‘draft’ status for quite some time. Unfortunately, all of those will have to wait a little longer. I’m flying to Albuquerque in about an hour to see my grandmother, who was supposed to start chemo on Monday for the lung cancer they found last week.

She went into critical care at the hospital last night. I don’t know much right now. And I don’t know if I can get there in time.

But I’m going to try.

I will be back, just don’t know when. I hope next week. Bear with me.

Just Shut Up and Write

The event season ended. Finally. I went to Jury Duty. Naively. Joined Facebook. Kookily. Travis got sick. Reluctantly. The cat got sick. Yowly. I got sick. Crankily.

There was much cleaning of cat puke last weekend. And not enough sleep.

For the last month, I’ve been trying to reconnect with my life and post about all of these things. But everytime I sit down to work, that damn demon, Writer’s Block, sits down with me.

I tell myself it’s been so long since that I’m just out of practice. That with everything else I’m doing, I don’t have the 2-3 quiet hours I need to write.

And yet every morning and afternoon, I entertain myself during the 30 minute commute by composing stories that contain everything I want to say, exactly how I want to say them. Beautiful posts that evaporate as soon as I get to a computer.

I know I’m just getting in my own damn way. I want to write wonderful, interesting things that are a good page and a half. Things that are funny. Things that relate. Things that really SAY something.

I’m trying too hard. I just need to shut up and write.

So here it comes.

P.S. I dropped camera in August. For like seventh time in three months. Is busted. Could say is reason no pictures lately. But would be lie. Still have 5 bazillion pics from concerts, family visits and bachelorette party. To be coming.
