It may be seriously counterproductive to constantly be linking to other people’s blogs, effectively encouraging all of my 12 visitors to GO AWAY, but I just can’t help it. Every time I bump into something awesome, it knocks my brain loose. And my brain goes, “You must tell EVERYONE YOU’VE EVER MET ABOUT THIS. Repeatedly. Because, seriously. They might not find it on their own. They might be, I don’t know, out living their lives or something crazy like that. But how could anyone LIVE without hearing about this?”

It’s possible my brain is working with a very skewed perspective. Fun for me, but here’s my point:

I just read that Dooce slew at the Bloggies this year, winning four awards and a lifetime achievement. And I wanted to send her a little shout out for that. Firstly, because I voted for her for everything and am ALWAYS extremely pleased to see it when the Fates actually LISTEN TO ME.

Secondly, and more importantly, because I am ridiculously thrilled for her. I adore her writing, envy her photography, identify with her struggle and admire her courage. She makes me laugh (a requirement, it seems, for everything in my life), makes me cry, makes me think, and shortly after announcing Coco the puppy, started making me think about puppies, sweet puppies, they’re so cute and fun and soft and CUTE, I think I need to send another wave of ‘we need a dog’ propaganda Trav’s direction today.

Just like Erin, Dooce inspires me to do more with my writing. To be funnier. Faster. Braver. It’s something she does everyday. It kills me to know that’s something I could do, too, but just haven’t figured out how to fit it into my schedule. Along with working out. And returning emails.

I also read today that she’s speaking at BlogHer ’08. I’ve been saying for years that I want to go. I may finally have to suck it up and get on the plane.

Way to go, Heather! Congrats! You deserve it.
