Going through a bunch of old draft posts today. Looking at this one, I’m reminded for the thousandth time that I wish I’d kept sketching. And that clearly, CLEARLY, I was a Trekkie beyond all understanding, having drawn this using two of my 200+ trading cards. During high school.
My god.

oh, I DEFINITELY agree with you about Worf on DS9. I was such a Trekkie I watched ALL the spinoffs except for Enterprise, which is weird because:
A) I know Brent was in it from time to time
B) I’m also a HUGE Quantum Leap freak and cried my eyeballs out when the show ended and Scott Bakula’s character was lost in time FOREVER
But yeah. Voyager and DS9 were pretty meh for me.
Data is definitely my favorite, just as Spock is my favorite from the original series. I didn’t watch a lot of Deep Space 9 and never watched Voyager or Enterprise so I don’t have too many comments there, although I do like the way they developed Worf’s character on DS9: he was pretty limited on TNG.
The only reason Picard is in the background is because this is a crop from a practice comic book page. I was playing with using faces as a way to break out of using framed boxes while still moving along the storyline. It was totally incomplete, with this being the best drawn section.
Trying to pick my favorite TNG character is kinda like trying to pick my favorite Muppet – I loved them all in large and small amounts at different times and stories, even Riker. Although, I agree, I found him to be the most frequently annoying.
(Oh! Except for PULASKI. I still cannot STAND ‘that’ woman. ick! ack! bleah! SMACK! And Little Miss Ambitious I’m-Gonna-Replace-Riker in “the Best of Both Worlds” grrrr.)
Deanna, Worf, Beverly, Picard, the whole group was so much fun, so well developed as individuals and as a family…and I always liked Wesley except that I thought they could have done so much more with him.
But I think out of everyone, I love Data the most. I never, ever got tired of him and always wanted more. I really wish Brent Spiner had more roles, he’s so great in everything he does.
But what kind of Trekkie were you? Wesley Crusher? With Picard relegated to secondary status? I never hated the Ensign Crusher character like so many did but I didn’t particularly love him either. I did like him better than Commander Riker but then I liked all the next-generation characters better than Will Riker.
