My idea with Video Wednesday was to feature videos I liked for their visual art, regardless of any other content. But today, I can only say it was the MUSIC I was chasing on this one, because I heard a HALF-SECOND blip of this on the radio last night and it made me UNBELIEVABLY HAPPY. I loved this song as a kid, and because Mtv was banned in my house, I never even saw this video until about an hour ago. The refrain, ‘I can’t wait’ and the memory of playing Barbie Concert with my sister to it, (ruining any future chance of collectability in a single half-hour by switching their earrings and ratting their hair) was all I had to go on as I started a search on YouTube, and honestly, my memory was SO hazy I really thought this was a SuzieQ song. That it contains the most amazing examples of the kind of pointless direction and art that MADE the videos of this era so hawesome was purely a bonus. I imagine some of my younger friends watching this with the same questions I had: What is she doing? Is that a lamp? A coffeemaker? A bomb? Why is the dog wearing glasses? What is the point? What’s the story? For Pete’s sake, what’s her MESSAAAAAGE?!
And all I can say is, Dude. It was the 80s.

Yeah – the blip I heard that triggered this post was on the techno station here in town…I wonder if this is the mix you mean? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQUt2SVJ38g Cuz that’s pretty dang good! I LOVE IT!
Hum.. I have this for my bicycle rides to work – which seem to be a mix of 1980′s dance and early 90′s stuff that has a beat you can pedal to.
Re the video – the first line she sings is “my love, tell me what it’s all about?”
I think that says it all – all the random crap in the video is just that – random crap that you are supposed to not understand.
